Comedian Samay Raina has finally spoken out after weeks of controversy surrounding his and Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments on India’s Got Latent. Raina appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Police in Navi Mumbai on Monday, following their summons regarding the ongoing investigation. In his statement, Raina expressed deep regret over his remarks, admitting that they were made in the heat of the moment and were never intentional.

“I feel deep regret for what I said. It happened in the flow of the show, and I had no intention of saying it," Raina said in his statement. Acknowledging his mistake, he further added, “I realise that what I said was wrong."

Raina assured authorities that he would be more cautious in the future to prevent such incidents. He also revealed that the controversy had taken a toll on his mental well-being and mentioned that his Canada tour did not go as planned due to the situation.

The Maharashtra Cyber Police had previously denied Raina’s request to record his statement via video conferencing, insisting that he appear in person. The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with Mumbai Police.

What Sparked the Controversy?

The controversy erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as Beerbiceps, made obscene remarks on India’s Got Latent. He allegedly asked a contestant about the “size of his p****" and even offered Rs 2 crore if he “sucked his d***." In another instance, Allahbadia posed an outrageous question taken from a YouTube show: “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

The incident sparked nationwide outrage, leading to multiple FIRs being filed and the Supreme Court taking a stern view of the matter. Earlier this month, the top court lashed out at Raina, commenting that the younger generation believes they are “oversmart" and know more than they actually do.

“There are some people who are writing articles on free speech etc. We know how to handle them also. Every fundamental right is followed by duty. There are restrictions also," Justice Surya Kant had remarked during the hearing.
