In a startling twist to the ongoing Saurabh Rajput murder case, Muskan Rastogi, the primary accused in the killing of her husband, has formed an unexpected alliance with another convicted woman, Sangeeta, inside the Chaudhary Charan Singh Jail in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Both women, convicted for the murders of their husbands, have struck up a bond over shared experiences and seemingly parallel motivations that led them to take extreme actions.

Muskan, who has been in jail for about a month, was arrested in connection with the brutal murder of her husband, Saurabh, a Merchant Navy by profession. Similarly, Sangeeta, who hails from Meerut’s Thana Jani area, was detained after her involvement in the murder of her spouse, Ajay (also known as Bittu). The two women share more than just a prison cell; they share a disturbing commonality in their histories where both conspired to kill their husbands and, in a bid to escape their marriages, sought to pursue relationships with their lovers.

Sangeeta’s case dates back to earlier this year when her husband, Ajay, a Dehradun resident, had travelled to Meerut to attend a wedding. Sangeeta, accompanied by her boyfriend, Avnish, lured Ajay into drinking alcohol. Soon, Avnish bludgeoned him with a hand pump before strangling him to death. Ajay’s body was later discovered, leading to an investigation that unravelled the chilling details of his wife’s plan. Both Sangeeta and Avnish eventually confessed to the crime, and they were arrested in February this year.

Fast forward to Muskan’s arrest in the aftermath of the Saurabh murder case, which captivated media attention for its shocking brutality. Muskan and her partner, Sahil, were charged with conspiring to kill Saurabh. Muskan’s life behind bars took a curious turn when she was placed in the same barrack as Sangeeta, leading to the formation of a close friendship between the two women.

The jail administration confirmed that Muskan and Sangeeta, both now pregnant, are receiving special accommodations due to their condition. Neither of them is required to perform any work within the facility. Although the two women are housed together in the women’s barrack, their boyfriends, who are also incarcerated for separate offences, remain in a different part of the prison.

Adding a layer of intrigue to their story, both women are currently pregnant, and there is growing speculation about the paternity of their children. Both have expressed uncertainty about whether their pregnancies are the result of their late husbands’ or their boyfriends’ involvement.

Earlier this year, on March 18, 27-year-old Muskan was arrested for the brutal murder of her husband, Saurabh Rajput, with the assistance of her lover, Sahil Shukla. The crime occurred on March 4 when Muskan sedated Saurabh by lacing his food with sedatives, rendering him unconscious. She then called Sahil to their home, where they proceeded to stab Saurabh in the chest with a butcher’s knife and slit his throat. Afterward, they dismembered his body, severing his hands, and placed the remains in a large plastic drum, which they filled with cement and sand to conceal the evidence. The drum was then hidden in their house.

In a bid to mislead Saurabh’s family, Muskan sent messages from his phone, posing as him. She communicated with his sister, discussing plans for the upcoming Holi festival and sending greetings, thereby creating the illusion that he was still alive. This deception continued until Saurabh’s brother, growing suspicious of Muskan’s behaviour, reported him missing on March 18. Upon questioning, Muskan initially claimed that Saurabh had been stabbed by his family members. However, under further interrogation, she confessed to the crime, implicating Sahil as her accomplice.

Following their confessions, police recovered Saurabh’s remains from the cement-filled drum. The murder weapons, a butcher’s knife and a razor, were also seized. Muskan and Sahil were arrested and charged with murder and related offenses.
