Nitesh Tiwari, who is currently working with Ranbir Kapoor on the much-anticipated epic Ramayana, recently opened up about the projects he’d be keen to direct next. While fans are eagerly awaiting Ramayana’s release, the filmmaker revealed an interesting preference—he would choose directing Animal Park over Mirzapur 4.

In a recent chat with Komal Nahta for Game Changers, Tiwari participated in a fun rapid-fire round where he was asked whether he’d rather helm the fourth season of the popular web series Mirzapur or take on Animal Park, the sequel to the blockbuster Animal. Without much hesitation, Tiwari picked Animal Park.

Explaining his choice, he shared that while both projects fall into genres he typically wouldn’t venture into, Animal Park was simply more tempting. The key factor? The opportunity to collaborate once again with Ranbir Kapoor. Tiwari said, “I’m choosing the better, more tempting, which allows me to get greater performances out and get to work with somebody who’s very dear to me, Ranbir."

Animal Park is the highly anticipated sequel to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, which was a box office smash in 2023. Vanga has teased that the sequel will be “darker" than its predecessor. Production is expected to commence once Vanga completes his current project, Spirit. The original film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Triptii Dimri, and was praised for its gripping storyline and intense performances.

Meanwhile, Tiwari and Ranbir Kapoor are deep into shooting Ramayana, which is being crafted as a two-part saga. Ranbir takes on the role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Maa Sita, and Yash steps in as Ravana. The ensemble cast also features Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, and Kunal Kapoor in significant roles.

Producer Namit Malhotra officially announced the project in 2024, confirming that the two parts of Ramayana will release on Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027, respectively. Speaking about the ambitious project, Malhotra said, “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence."

Interestingly, while Ranbir had a cameo in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chillar Party back in 2011, Ramayana marks their first full-fledged collaboration—something fans are eagerly looking forward to.
