Elon Musk Hops On ChatGPT’s Studio Ghibli Trend? Check His Latest Post
Calling the picture 'theme of the day', Elon Musk shared the photo created by ChatGPT's image generator. The picture combines elements of cartoon-style art inspired by 'The Lion King' and featuring a Shiba Inu dog instead of a lion cub.

The internet has indeed become a Studio Ghibli-inspired playground, with admirers of the iconic Japanese animation studio trying their hands on ChatGPT’s latest image-generation update. Shortly after OpenAI introduced the update within GPT-4o—the latest version of ChatGPT- the trend instantly took over social media as many started creating portraits and memes inspired by the distinct style popularised by Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. Joining in the trend is the ever-controversial Elon Musk, the owner of rival AI company Grok.
Taking to his X handle, Musk shared a picture inspired by Studio Ghibli; however, with a crypto connection. In the animation, Musk pictures himself as a monkey who carries the DOGE mascot in the air — something which left crypto enthusiasts and market watchers speculating. “Theme of the day," he captioned the post.

While many wondered if Musk tried his hand at OpenAI’s image-generation feature, others believed the tweet could be foretelling a future DOGE announcement. A user asked, “What is the prompt for Grok, or where are people making these images?" while another added, “Did you really have to go over to ChatGPT to do this, Elon?"
“GHIBLIDOGE," someome joked. A user mentioned OpenAI’s latest update and quipped, “Bro, this feature is literally launched by your competitor lol." Despite the mixed reactions, many of his followers enjoyed the Studio Ghibli animation, as the users also hopped on the trend and shared their own creative versions.
On Tuesday, OpenAI launched what it calls the “most advanced image generator yet," featuring a natively multimodal model that is capable of giving precise, accurate and photorealistic outputs. With users getting all creative and artistic with the feature, many discovered that the image generator can also replicate the anime style of the company, known for helming films like My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away and The Boy and the Heron. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also reacted to the anime frenzy on the internet, revealing that he received hundreds of messages with “Look, I made you into a twink ghibli style haha."
