'You Made Sheeshmahal...': Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's Dig At Arvind Kejriwal In Budget Speech
Rekha Gupta, while presenting the Delhi Budget, slammed the AAP, accusing them of building a 'Sheesh Mahal' while her government aims to construct houses for the poor.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its convenor Arvind Kejriwal and alleged it abused the governments of other states.
In a jab at the party, Gupta also said the party built ‘Sheesh Mahal‘, and claimed her government in Delhi would build houses for the poor.

The Chief Minister’s remark came as she presented the Budget for the financial year 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs one lakh crore, marking a 31.5 per cent increase from the previous year.
“There is a lot of difference between us and them (AAP). You (AAP) made promises, we will fulfil them. You abused the governments of the other states, we will establish harmony and work together," Gupta said.
“You made ‘Sheesh Mahal’, we will build houses for the poor. You installed pot toilets worth lakhs, we will make toilets for the people in slum areas," she added.

Later, attacking the Delhi government and alleging it made a Budget without an economic survey, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital, Atishi, said that the government has admitted that they have not done any analysis to make the Budget.
“Is it a good thing that they are saying that they are forming a Budget to review the situation of Delhi’s financial condition? I think this means that the Delhi government itself is admitting that they have not done any analysis to make this Budget," Atishi told reporters.
CM CALLS DELHI BUDGET ‘HISTORIC’
Calling the Delhi Budget “historic", Gupta emphasised that the era of “corruption and inefficiency" was over, with the government doubling capital expenditure to Rs 28,000 crore.
This increased spending will be directed towards infrastructure development, including roads, sewer systems, and water supply.
The Budget focuses on ten key areas, including electricity, roads, water, and connectivity. The Delhi government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore for improved transport links within Delhi-NCR.
In a welfare measure, Rs 5,100 crore has been earmarked to provide Rs 2,500 per month to eligible women. Additionally, Rs 2,144 crore has been allocated for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, aiming to strengthen healthcare services in the capital.
This Budget is the first presented by a BJP-led government in Delhi in over 26 years, following the party’s victory over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in last month’s Assembly elections.
