Their love story began in the early 1960s, a time when societal norms in India strictly opposed inter-caste marriages. Harsh, a Jain man, and Mrudu, a Brahmin woman, met in school and their love story began as they exchanged letters.
However, when Mrudu’s family discovered their relationship, they were adamantly opposed, leaving the couple with a heart-wrenching choice.
Choosing love over acceptance, Harsh and Mrudu bravely eloped, facing life’s uncertainties together without family support. This marked the start of their life built on love and determination.

Over the years, they not only created a loving home but gradually earned the acceptance they were initially denied. Their children and grandchildren grew up with stories of their resilience and love that transcended societal barriers.
To honour their incredible journey and the sacrifices they made, their grandchildren arranged a surprise wedding ceremony for their 64th anniversary. For the first time since they eloped, Harsh and Mrudu were briefly separated to prepare for their special day in privacy.
The ceremony included all the rituals they missed in their youth, including the sacred fire around which they walked, renewing their vows with the same commitment and love that had guided them through life’s challenges.
