'Answer Like A Junior': Bengaluru Techie Shares ‘Disgusting’ Interview Experience
In the post, the user shared that the interviewer started raising questions about his experience and skills.

Job interviews can be nerve-wracking, especially when interviewers put candidates on the spot with unexpected challenges. A young tech professional from Bengaluru recently shared his unsettling interview experience while applying for a full-stack developer role, calling it ‘disgusting.’
Taking to Reddit, the techie recounted how he entered the interview with enthusiasm, eager to discuss his one year of experience and accomplishments. However, things quickly took a turn when the interviewer interrupted his self-introduction with a harsh remark: “Are you going to take my position as CTO, or are you joining as a junior? Stay humble and answer like a junior."

From that moment, the candidate kept his responses brief and focused solely on technical questions. Despite answering most correctly, he made one mistake—prompting the interviewer to question his entire skill set and experience. The interviewer went as far as saying: “How did you even become a developer? You’re a disgrace to software development. You just copy code from ChatGPT."
Shaken by the experience, the techie admitted that the interview left him questioning his abilities. “I shifted my weekend plans just for this interview, only to have my confidence shattered. I kept asking myself—Am I even a developer?" he wrote.
Soon after the post gained traction online, it sparked outrage among tech professionals on Reddit. Many users backed the young professional and encouraged him not to ruin the weekend for such a company. Others chimed in, saying he should be grateful that he discovered the truth about the company much earlier.
“Been there, brother. Thanks for naming and shaming the company. When I was interviewing after a career break, a dude dared to tell me that my life is not worth the cost of my laptop," said a user.
An individual commented, “Be proud of yourself! That’s it, a lot of IT culture exists because cowards let it fest. You called out and let others know, you are brave!"
“I would’ve cut the call right there. It’s never worth it to go through mental abuse. Remember you spend most of your waking hours at work," another stated.
An account remarked, “Don’t think about it too much, that company was not worth ruining your weekend for, I looked at them, sounded shady to me. It’s not a company to cry for."
“Cheer up dude, these things happen and are quite common you’ll find something better. You should be grateful you found out the reality of that company before you invested more of your time in them," commented a user.
Another questioned, “Why didn’t you just leave the interview when he said you are a disgrace to software development? Would standing up and leaving have any long-term impacts?"
“That is such an entitled behaviour. I can already assume a toxic environment if he is showing such an attitude. I have worked with multiple top executives, and most of them don’t start showing off their authority like this," wrote a Reddit user.
